Sami Khan (BComm.)

Visionary Entrepreneur & Developer

There are developers and then there are developers. You definitely want the second kind and that would be Sami. He's one of those guys interested in everything, especially saving the planet. Since everyone has to take up a career, Sami chose IT, or legend has it that IT chose him -- he's been trying to get away ever since. But his loss is your gain because you can hire Sami to work for you! If you ask nicely, he will design you a website, create a logo, and drop a few hints about how your company take over the world. Then, at your request, he will spend an extra eight hours making things absolutely perfect because everything isn't exactly how you wanted, but he will only charge you for four only because he has five kids to feed (kidding).

Sometimes you will wonder whether he should be a professor at a university, but will forget the thought at the sight of delightful results. He doesn't enjoy coding all the time, so he does other things at Etopian related with his extensive knowledge of business and strategy. He reads at least a book a week, so be careful what you ask him, you might get an earful.

Sami is a graduate of the Haskayne School of Business. He received BComm with a focus in entrepreneurship. While at the University of Calgary, he also extensively studied computer science and web development. He has been working as a professional web developer since 2004, and has been playing with the web since 1996, when he was growing up in Urbana, Illinois. He has worked for companies in San Francisco, specifically Kiva and C3 LLC, and for clients in France (M21 Editions, fest21.com, cluster21.com) and Denmark (ak47.dk). He has also been a part of the Drupal community since version 4.3. He started Etopian in 2004 and has been planning its rise ever since.
